What about Abortion?
In the secular and nonsecular world, abortion has generated a lot of view and controversy.
Abortion is a medical or surgical procedure that ends a pregnancy. It is a highly controversial issue in the united states, legalizing abortion since 1973 while unethical or illegal in the field of medicine in other countries. From a natural standpoint many people raise a eyeball and mostly kick against abortion and often view women who engage in it to have murdered a life or interrupted a purpose in life though yet unborn. Another group also hold view that women have a liberty as to decide to opt for abortion owing to several personal issues. Another group of people hold the view that the bible teaches abortion is wrong, they also believe that abortion should only be permitted in cases of Incest, Rape or if it endangers the life of the expecting mother.
But what does the word of God says?
`: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin' Romans 14:23 and we all know that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17)
The word of God instruct that;
Psalm 127:3 'Behold children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward of God"
Often times couples who have been barren after years of marriage seek medical attention and assistance while seeking God in prayers to bless them with the fruit of the womb making reference to (Hannah, Rebeccah, Elizabeth and Sarah) in the bible.
In view of this shall you abort a heritage of God? Fruit of the womb is something that God gives as a heritage and blessing.
For ladies and married women who engage in the act of fornication and adultery and perhaps got pregnant in the process are often pressed to opt for abortion owing to unwanted pregnancies, yet God is against fornication and adultery and you are inexcusable;
'Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
1 Corinthians:6:18"
For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
1 Thessalonians:4:3
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
Matthew:5:27
Another word of God view is that ever before our parents met God knew us and set us aside for a purpose;
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Jeremiah:1:5
God told Jeremiah he had knowledge of him before he took a form in his mother belly.
Moses was also born a goodly child and set aside to deliver the people of God in Egypt (Exodus 2:2)
What then? Would you abort what God know about and has a plan for in this world?
Regarding Incest and Rape;
'None of you shall approach anyone close of kin to him to have sexual relations. I am the Lord" Leviticus 18:6(Amplified Bible)
Deuteronomy 22:25-26 New International

But if out in the country a man happens to meet a young woman pledged to be married and rapes her, only the man who has done this shall die. Do nothing to the woman; she has committed no sin deserving death. This case is like that of someone who attacks and murders a neighbor,
The word of God is also against Incest and Rape and does not give any commandment concerning pregnancy that might have occurred due to Incest and Rape.
Moreover, by the word of God abortion is never approved of God.
In conclusion, the bible does not have any direct command against abortion, this can be because abortion was not a phenomenon in those days, yet it is not of God will that any should engage in abortion, and in view of the above justification by the word of God, we can say that abortion is never of God, and we see that God warns us to flee from any appearance of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22), and you shall not kill (Exodus 20:13 )
Spiritual leaders and pastors should with emphasis on scriptures teach against having abortion in any situation, in same manner allowing individual believers to be led by the Holy Spirit or seek the Lord in prayers in their decisions for opting for abortion in a case of Rape, Incest taboo or medical cases that endangers the life of the expectant mother.
For as many are led by the spirit are the true children of God.
